Samini Insists He Is Still The King Of African Dancehall

Andrew Samini known in the showbiz as Samini Dagaate has said he is the originator of the African dancehall genre which makes him the king of that genre.

Samini told Mikki Osei Berko on the After Hours Show on TV3, he is still the dancehall king no matter the opinion of anybody else.

African dancehall is a genre I created so I am still the king of that. Foreign market for African dancehall is huge. Africa is doing dancehall from the authentic point of view so then it becomes a specialized genre from Africa. Ghanaian or West African do dancehall music almost close to how Jamaicas do it.

The ‘My Own’ hitmaker termed his brand of music as African dancehall.

Samini success and recognition began when he released his first single ‘Linda’ which became a massive hit. He has released six albums with all being highly successful on the commercial market.
